Job summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Service at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is highly respected and our staff work closely with multi-disciplinary teams. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our team as the principal pharmacist for clinical services covering a fixed term position for up to 12 months.
The successful applicant will be an integral member of the clinical pharmacy team, working closely with Deputy Chief and Associate Chief Pharmacists for Clinical Services to develop and provide high quality pharmaceutical care across the Trust with opportunities to work with senior colleagues to improve patient care. This position will be ideal for an enthusiastic individual who enjoys the challenge of working in a busy multidisciplinary environment and who can demonstrate innovation, strong leadership skills and excellent communication.
The post will also provide opportunities for personal and professional development, both clinically and managerially. Previous experience in directorate pharmacy and operational skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills are essential to the role. Candidates should have successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent). An independent prescribing qualification and experience of staff management are advantageous.
Main duties of the job
The post holder leads, delivers, develops, manages and evaluates clinical pharmacy services and is responsible for:
Leading and managing the clinical services team at the Denmark hill Site
To deputise for the Associate Chief Pharmacist and work closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist for Clinical Services
Providing a clinical commitment and acting as a role model to manage the pharmaceutical care of patients
To support in the operational running of the clinical service including the management of both weekday and weekend rotas
To deliver induction and training to clinical pharmacy staff in relation to approved clinical pharmacy policies and procedures
Acting as a specialist role model and as an expert in a clinical field
Ensuring a high level of clinical input across the pharmacy service.
Development and implementation of guidelines and policies for the use of medicines.
Developing the clinical pharmacy service.
Teaching and training within the Trust and externally
Identifying and promoting best practice
Leading and completing Trust medicines management or pharmacy clinical services audit, benchmarking and self-assessment tools and quality improvement projects
To support the on-call pharmacy service.
To act as the Lead pharmacist for Radiology and Occupational Health and support in directorate work.
