Job summary
King's College NHS Foundation Trust has a large Therapy department with 300 + staff from Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. Each service is organised under a Head of Profession with a Chief of Therapies heading up the service and representing Therapies across the Trust. The department has well-established traditions of supporting learning and development, which ensures all staff are given opportunities to develop skills and knowledge to reach their full potential.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated HCPC registered occupational therapists to join our band 5 rotational scheme. The rotation posts, apart from Hand Therapy, are 6 months in duration and offer the opportunity to increase clinical skills and knowledge in a wide variety of clinical areas across many physical health specialities.

There is an established system for the delivery of clinical governance objectives, CPD and Evidence Based Practice across the department. CPD is encouraged through the Trust appraisal system, as well as through Team CPD Cycles.
Main duties of the job
The B5 rotation at King's College Hospital includes the following rotations:
- Acute Medicine
- Community (Intermediate Care)
- Orthopaedics
- Neuro-rehabilitation (FCRU based at Orpington Hospital)
- Health and Aging Unit
- Stroke
- Neuro-surgery
- Critical Care
- Specialist Medicine & Surgery
- Hand Therapy (12 month rotation)
The post holder will ensure the provisions are made for a high quality service for all patients that require Occupational Therapy. They will carry a caseload of complex patients using evidence based practise and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. The post holder will be required to develop links with other departments and to facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach. The post requires a flexible approach to working and requires the post holder to undertake weekend commitments as required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with the following skills, experience and interests:
- Qualification in Occupational Therapy with HCPC registration (or awaiting)
- An interest in working with patients in the acute setting and within an outpatient service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and concise report writing
- Approachable
- Able to appropriately prioritise a caseload of patients
- Ability to cope with stress
