Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join the Gastroenterology dietetic team at Kings College Hospital, as a fixed term 1.0 WTE Band 7 Specialist Dietitian. This post will be based at the Denmark Hill site. Initially the fixed term contract will be for 12 months, but it is envisaged funding will be continued on an ongoing basis. The team consists of a Band 8 clinical lead, band 7 and also a band 6 dietitian.
Main duties of the job
This post was created to lead on the exciting opportunity, of establishing a new service, for patients undergoing an Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG). This will involve pathway development, data collection for the National Bariatric Surgery Registry (NBSR) and working closely with the MDT.
As a member of the gastroenterology dietetic team,you will also be providing a service for gastroenterology outpatients, including patients with IBD, functional bowel disorders, intestinal failure and many more gastrointestinal conditions. When required, you will support with cover for the inpatient service and the parenteral nutrition team.
Service development will be an objective of high priority for this post. You will work closely with the Band 8 lead to take the service forward. Involvement in learning and development activities and research is highly supported and encouraged within the department. There will also be opportunities to line manage junior members of staff.

Nutrition and Dietetics is part of a large Therapy department with over 300 Therapists that provide a service under a supportive management structure consisting of Head of Department and a Chief of Therapies. The department places a strong emphasis on the learning environment and ensures that staff have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to their full potential.
