Consultant in Oral Surgery (Fixed Term)

Job summary

The Department of Oral Surgery is seeking to appoint an appropriately qualified, enthusiastic individual with expertise in the delivery of specialist Oral Surgery services to join their team.

Applications are therefore invited for the part time (0.8PAs) position of Consultant in Oral Surgery at King's College Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will also provide training, clinical leadership and support to staff working in this service and contribute to the delivery of undergraduate teaching.

The Department of Oral Surgery is located within the Dental Hospital which is part of the Ambulatory Care Division of King's College NHS Foundation Trust.

A comprehensive range of clinical services in all the main dental specialities and oral and maxillofacial surgery are provided in this setting.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC and inclusion of Specialist Register for Oral Surgery on date of taking up appointment

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years), therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

1. Together with the other consutlants, to provide specialist secondary and tertiary Oral Surgery services for patients referred to the Oral Surgery department. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the effective functioning of the department.2. Responsible also for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.3. Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.4. Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.5. Responsible for outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Divisional management team.6. Contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trusts R&D framework.7. Contribute to the audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality, clinical governance programs and learning from Deaths.
