Job summary
Leading the clinical pharmacy service at the Princess Royal University Hospital and deputising as Pharmacy site lead on a regular basis, you will lead a large team and have the opportunity to lead on developing Pharmacy services and strategy in one of the largest and busiest hospital Trusts.
You will have leadership and management responsibility for the development and delivery of effective pharmacy services for a range of care groups across all sites of King's College Hospital.
You will develop the provision of an efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated service for patients. This will include ensuring engagement of patients and professionals in medication related activities that support the delivery of national outcome ambitions in line with the needs and resources of the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake line management for a range of Principal Pharmacists.
- Provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to relevant speciality as part of the clinical pharmacy team.
- Lead and manage the pharmacy clinical team in relevant care groups/ and ensure service delivery to agreed standards in line with business planning requirements.
- To be part of the PRUH Pharmacy senior site team and act as Site Lead as required
- Lead on a strategy for further development and maintenance of appropriate guidelines and procedures to support the management, administration, monitoring, cost effective and safe use of drugs including high-risk drugs in all clinical areas.
- To lead on developing innovative patient focused service delivery pathways to ensure that those with unmet need are identified and treated.
- Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to promote safe, effective use of drugs within relevant care groups.
- Ensure the development and delivery of training in clinical specialities pertaining to pharmacy for pharmacy staff and other staff groups as required.
- Evaluate available information and provide guidance to the relevant care groups on new drugs.
- Ensuring delivery of cost-effective prescribing across King's College Hospital by working with commissioners to manage budgets, formulate cost improvement plans and monitors any potential savings.
- To promote the safe use of medicines across the Trust and act as an expert resource in these practice areas across the Trust.
