Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and organised nurse to work within the deteriorating patient workstream.

The role will involve working with and supporting the Acute Deterioration Matron in the review of all unplanned admissions to Critical Care, and wider deteriorating patient improvement work. The postholder will liaise with link teams such as iMobile, Patient Safety and Quality Improvement to promote an understanding of the fundamentals of the CQUIN, and associated areas for improvement across the organisation.

This is a great opportunity for a nurse with experience of caring for deteriorating patients, to objectively review their deterioration journey and obtain contextual feedback from local areas. The postholder will also have the opportunity to work within various project teams, developing quality improvement and project management skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who is able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, utilise good communication and interpersonal skills and carry out detailed work accurately. The individual will need to be able to use their own initiative, work effectively within the MDT and seek guidance or support when appropriate.

One of the 2023/24 CQUIN measures is focussed upon improvement in the management of acute deterioration. CQUIN07: Recording of and response to NEWS2 score for unplanned critical care admissions, is designed to promote the reliable recording of NEWS2 Score, escalation and response timings, and time of senior response, where required, for ward inpatients where there is a deterioration episode. The CQUIN is a step towards improving care processes for deteriorating patients and follows on from the 2022/23 CQUIN, CCG3.

To liaise with other areas regarding audit and collection of data to promote service improvement.

To develop and maintain defined, accurate and up-to-date reporting and governance structures, identifying and escalating concerns for early resolution.

To assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection, analytical input and collation of relevant information/data for papers and reports.

To ensure the UPA dataset is ready and available in good time for the quarterly submission to the national CQUIN portal and to further assist with updates to local reports.

To ensure the UPA dataset is ready for monthly reporting to care groups, where relevant.

To carry out analyses of audit data, including presenting data in a variety of formats.
