Job summary
The Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit provides rapid patient access to surgical care delivered by a dedicated team of clinicians, nurses and support workers in a professionally supportive and educational environment. It provides early assessment for emergency surgical patients, treatment for ambulatory conditions and develops patient management plans for those requiring admission resulting in safe, effective and efficient care. By optimising early decision making and access to diagnostics and surgical treatment we aim to reduce the length of stay and overall number of surgical inpatient admissions.
An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking highly motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic nurses to join the team as a Band 5 Staff Nurse. Applicants should demonstrate experience in a surgical setting; have a positive attitude, show professionalism, integrity, determination and dedication. You must promote high quality patient centred care and establish good relationships with staff and patients, communicating effectively at all times.

Main duties of the job

- To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide patients and relatives with high quality nursing care.
- To work within both the nursing and multi-disciplinary team to provide excellent evidence based, holistic care to a group of patients in a safe and timely manner.
- To take responsibility for managing and co-ordinating the care of patients with emergency surgery diagnoses.
- To participate in the teaching and supervision of junior staff and student nurses as required.
- To assist the surgical division and Trust as a whole to achieve targets and maintain high standards of patient care.

Successful candidates will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as they will need to communicate across multiple teams and specialities each shift to ensure timely treatment and patient flow is maintained. We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. Clinical Practice
- To deliver a high standard of evidence based care to patients
- To adhere to NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times
