Job summary
A post has arisen with the opportunity for an experienced, caring and motivated nurse to join our Gynaecology Outpatient team. We are a busy outpatients and ambulatory care setting caring for women across a range of subspecialties including early pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, colposcopy, gynae-oncology, urogynaecology, menopause and endometriosis alongside ambulatory procedures and treatments.
You must have excellent knowledge and skills in Women's Health alongside the ability to provide support to women across the speciality

The work pattern will cover core hours Monday to Friday with some weekend morning working to ensure that the service needs are met.
Main duties of the job
In this post you will be supported by the senior nurses to develop necessary skills to develop specialist skills to manage and lead a small team of nursing and support staff. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality care for women accessing the service using staff and patient feedback to improve the experience of women. You must be able to establish a rapport with all women and demonstrate a high level of empathy and sensitivity to women with a diverse range of needs.
The successful candidate will work across the department, linking with inpatient, day surgery, pregnancy advisory and maternity services. The post holder will be key in assessing and co-ordinating day to day activity across the department and have the ability to problem solve to ensure safe and effective care. The successful post holder will work closely with the whole multi-disciplinary team and excellent communication skills are essential.

- Clinical Practice
- To support in the delivery of an outpatient service for women accessing this service
- To provide specialist nursing advice for women accessing early pregnancy services supporting women, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through treatment including bereavement support under supervision of senior nurse.
- To ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence based nursing care, assessing health, health related and nursing needs of patients, their families and other carers by identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective care. This can include:
- Managing a defined patient caseload
- Ordering diagnostic tests
- Making and receiving referrals
- Admitting and discharging patients for specified conditions and within agreed protocols
- Day to day management of clinic in absence of senior nurses
- To accept responsibility for own defined patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporates the issues and recommendations made ensuring clear documentation in the patients electronic records under supervision of senior nurse.
- To work in nurse led clinics, providing specialist information and support for women referred to the department
- To follow-up women as appropriate and ensure all relevant information is available to enable patients to make an informed choice about their treatment
- To attend and support co-ordination of MDT meetings if appropriate to the role ensuring all patients are represented
- To deliver a seamless service through the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) processes and communication
- To participate in the identification and development of clinical protocols and strategies to enhance both the continuity and standard of specialist care whilst ensuring equity of access to the service.
