Job summary

As part of the expansion of the clinical and academic Inherited Cardiac Conditions Service across the King's Health Partnership (KHP), we are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Cardiologist to join our team at King's College Hospital. You should have expertise in inherited cardiac conditions, with relevant specialist higher training. There will be additional opportunities for cardiac imaging/cardiac device sessions for suitably trained candidates.

Hosted at King's College Hospital, the successful candidate will join the wider inherited cardiac conditions team operating across other KHP sites including Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. Staff network through the South London Inherited Cardiac Conditions meetings and there are joint multi-disciplinary meetings where challenging cases can be reviewed.

This is an excellent opportunity to join first class teams in prestigious central London teaching hospitals. The applicant should be both enthusiastic and flexible to meet the many needs of the department and contribute to the process of modernisation and improvement. Good organisational skills are important, as is the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams whilst upholding the Trust's values.

Main duties of the job

This is a substantive Consultant post and the proposed 10 PA Job Plan is attached. The remit of the postholder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team to provide care for patients with inherited cardiac conditions (ICC) and to further develop ICC services within the Trust and across the South London network.

The individual will run outpatient clinics, review inpatients, contribute to multi-disciplinary team working and participate in MDT team meetings. They will provide innovation and leadership in the further development of the combined inherited cardiac conditions service.

Major areas of development in the Cardiovascular department include the ICC service. It is expected that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of aspects of these services depending upon their interests and experience. Current focus includes development in clinical and research areas (for example the cardiac arrest survivors pathway).
