The Havens are a partnership initiative between the Metropolitan Police and the NHS to improve the care offered to victims of sexual assault/rape.
We are seeking motivated, dedicated, non-judgemental crisis workers to provide on-call, out of hours cover for the forensic service at your base Haven. This will be within a travel distance of 60 minutes from being called. You may also be required to attend from time to time, one of the other Havens to ensure rota cover when service cover is required. You will assist the administration and management process of victims (women, men and children) attending the Havens, providing sensitive and empowering advocacy support, while assisting the Sexual offences Examiner during the examination and collecting of forensic evidence.
Main duties of the job
You are required to be a qualified nurse, counsellor or social worker with a relevant degree/diploma qualification and can demonstrate recent work experience within sexual health, family planning or a related health/social care field. Excellent communication skills and an understanding of the impact of serious sexual assault are required. A minimum of 3 shift pattern per month of week nights and or weekend days or nights. One bank holiday is also required
At present we are looking for shifts to be covered as follows:
Monday to Thursday night's 17.00 - 05.00Friday night 17.00 - 09.00Saturday Day 09.00-21.00Saturday night 21.00-09.00Sunday Day 09.00-21.00Sunday night 21.00-05.00
You must be able to arrive at the Haven within one hour of being called.
About us
The Havensis the London's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), a specialist centre in London for people who have been raped or sexually assaulted. We are a longstanding partnership initiative between the Mayors' Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and NHS England to improve the care offered to victims of sexual assault and rape. The service is provided by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Havens provide comprehensive forensic, medical and psychosocial aftercare services to complainants of serious sexual assault.
