If the answer is yes, then look no further. Exciting opportunities have arisen for motivated and dedicated nurses, with an interest, and ideally experience, in cardiac nursing, to join our friendly and supportive team on Sam Oram (Ward and CCU).
King's College Hospital is a well-recognised Heart Attack Centre for London and the Southeast of England. We provide a 24-hour, seven days a week, Primary Angioplasty in Myocardial Infarction (PAMI) service. Being a tertiary care centre, Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Sam Oram Ward work closely to provide specialist care to patients with various cardiac conditions. We receive both elective and emergency admissions within the unit and have heart failure, intervention, electrophysiology and Trans Aortic Valve Implant (TAVI) speciality teams.
The Coronary Care Unit is an 8-bedded monitored area that provides level 2 care for acutely ill patients requiring inotropic support, intra-aortic balloon pumps, non-invasive ventilation and temporary pacing.
The Sam Oram Ward is a 17 bedded unit dedicated to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring using bedside monitors and telemetries and forms a step-down area for the level 2 patients.
Main duties of the job
The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a fast-paced unit caring for level 2 patients. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who will uphold the King's College Hospital values. On a day-to-day basis, you will be providing a high standard of nursing care to the cardiac patients. You will be working closely with the Cardiac Catheter lab unit, Sam Oram ward and the Emergency Department to support a smooth pathway for the patient. You will be working collaboratively with the management, Clinical Nurse Specialists and the wider Multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care through various quality improvement initiatives.

- To practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to this at all times
- To assess, plan and evaluate individualised programmes of care for patients in partnership with the patient, their carers and the multi- disciplinary team
- To support and assist in the health education of patients and their families
- To ensure care is delivered in accordance with latest evidence-based practice guidelines
- To maintain up to date and comprehensive records of care in accordance with NMC and legal requirements
- To support junior colleagues, students, and visitors to the department
- To demonstrate effective communication and customer care skills with patients and their relatives/carers, thereby acting as a positive role model for nurses and other staff
- To participate in Trust and Division initiatives to develop nursing practice
- To manage an agreed workload with support from colleagues and senior staff as appropriate

- Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical speciality and own practice
- Awareness and understanding of current health issues
- Able to undertake tasks to support biomedical investigations and interventions
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in response to changing situations
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work co-operatively with other members of staff
- Want to do things better, to improve to be more effective and efficient
- Full understanding of the NMC code of professional conduct
- Physically able to do all aspects of the clinical nursing role, to include manual handling
