Main duties of the job

Children's Outpatients Departmentis a part of theAmbulatory Paediatrics service it is located on the 3rd floor of Hambledon Wing.

It is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and provides a phlebotomy service to children as well as a wide variety of clinic appointments for our patient population. The busy department encompasses 16 clinic rooms - the service is used by a wide net of Paediatric services such as Liver, General Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Haematology just to name a few. There sum total of the specialities using the service when last checked was 18. During the pandemic the 2020-2021 the department opened it doors to support the wider trust and began caring for acutely jaundiced babies, some services from the Phillip Isaac ward were also moved to the department temporarily.

As a Nurse Team Leader you will be required to work closely as a team leader and with the MDT assisting patients with appointments obtaining heights and weight recording data ect. You will have the opportunity to interact with different specialities and patients/carers to ensure the patient journey being delivered remains gold standard.

The completion of the Outpatient transformation has meant the department is now unrecognisable to itself of old. It is child friendly, bright and inviting. We use an InTouchcall forwarding system to alert the physicians of patients arriving to the department and this also provides our patients with a visual aide of clinic delay times.
