Job summary

The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the clinical engineering team. The team are responsible for the service and maintenance of equipment via external contracts, as well as inventory management, device safety, connectivity and replacement planning.

The post holder will work across the contracts and device safety teams to co-ordinate and record technical activity relating to the device inventory, acting as liaison between users and technical service providers, both in-house and external to the Trust. Under the supervision of the medical device safety officer, the post holder will action responses to field safety notices, recording corrective actions on the medical device asset register. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Experience of working in a technical service environment is essential. Specific experience of medical equipment management is desirable. You will need to be a team player, be able to work independently and prioritise your workload. Flexibility is essential to accommodate the constantly changing demands of a very busy service.

  • Educated to degree/NVQ Level 6 in a relevant subject, or extensive knowledge, skills and experience in the field of equipment maintenance and support.

Skills and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and internet use)
  • Ability to cope with variety of tasks under pressure.
  • Able to exercise own initiative and able to operate autonomously.
  • High level of planning and organisational skills with a flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Able to assimilate, analyse and present complex data.
  • Able to negotiate issues of a technical and commercial nature.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working with a wide range of people in different roles and at different levels of seniority both internal and external.
  • Experience of medical device management.
