Applications are invited for specialist registrar (locum appointment for service-LAS) in General Medicine with specialty interest in Infectious Disease and Gerontology, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Denmark Hill site).

1x Post - Geriatric Medicine - to start Immediately where possible till 6th Feb 2023 for 6mths
1x Post - General Medicine with specialty interest in Infectious Disease - To start 4th Oct 2023 - 1st Oct 2024 for 12months
This post would be suitable for any trainee who has completed core medical training or can demonstrate equivalent competencies. The post would offer excellent experience for doctors planning a career in acute medicine or general medicine.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will become an integral part of the team managing a post-acute general medical ward at King's. He/she will be given training in Acute and general medicine, with access to opportunities in diabetes and/or endocrinology outpatient clinics if desired..
He/she will have responsibility for ward inpatients and, as such, will be expected to attend board rounds, ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. He/she will help supervise the ward juniors, help manage the inpatients, provide support for seriously ill patients and emergencies, and help coordinate their discharge planning. The post holder will participate in audit and governance activities of the ward and help deliver teaching and training to junior colleagues including teaching PACES candidates and year 5 medical students.

- Hold a national training number in a dual accrediting higher medical speciality and general internal medicine
- ST4 and above at time of commencing post (ideally not within 18 months of completion of training on intended start date )
- Evidence of clinical competencies in their specialty appropriate for their stage in training. Ability to work without supervision where appropriate
- Evidence of effective team working and leadership, supported by multi-source feedback or workplace-based assessments
- Evidence of active involvement in quality improvement, audit, research or other activity that focuses on patient safety and clinical improvement and innovation
- Full registration with General Medical Council

- Additional relevant degree (intercalated, masters or doctorate)
- Evidence of relevant academic achievements, including publications / presentations
- Evidence of publications / presentations / prizes in quality improvement or audit
- Leadership skills gained within the NHS or elsewhere
