Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity to join the innovative and friendly, nurse led Critical Care Outreach team (iMobile team) at the PRUH.The iMobile team supports the hospital with recognition, escalation and management of deteriorating patients. Support is provided for ward teams with assessing, treating and stabilising patients, rapid transfers to critical care and follow up after discharge from Critical Care. Delivering patient safety education and training (including simulation days) for ward staff is integral to the role. The team provide teaching focussed on early recognition and prevention of patient deterioration incorporating a human factors approach. Trust CQC inspections have recognised the iMobile service as an 'Outstanding Area of Practice'.We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, caring and compassionate individual experienced with excellent leadership and communication skills, who will enjoy working in an everchanging clinical environment.The Critical Care department offer well-established, structured teaching and staff development programmes. We are affiliated to King's College, London; a member of the Academic Health Science Centre.

Main duties of the job

The junior sister/charge nurse role within iMobile requires you to have an appropriate specialist course, teaching qualification and possess a degree, with significant critical care experience. You must be able to demonstrate expert patient assessment skills and evidence based decision making with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Effective Communication is a key attribute for this role that involves working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be enthusiastic about education and be able to demonstrate previous experience of teaching and supervision and assessment of practice.

Delivering patient care in a variety of clinical settings, your role will be to work within the iMobile Critical Care team assessing, managing and treating patients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. You will assist the matron with the ongoing management and development of the service. This role is clinically based.

This post involves shift work (days, nights and weekends).
