Job summary

We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic radiographer, to join our friendly team in the Dental X-ray Departments at King's College Hospital (KCH) and Queen Mary's Hospital (QMS), Sidcup. This is an ideal opportunity for a HCPC registered Radiographer, wishing to increase their radiographic experience and expertise in Dental Imaging. You will gain experience in intra-oral and extra- oral radiographic procedures and be expected to work collaboratively, within multi-disciplinary teams.

Initially, the post holder will be on a 6 month probationary contract, during which time they will need to exhibit their enthusiasm for learning. Objectives will have to be met, to ascertain the suitability of the post holder for a substantive permanent contract.

Main duties of the job

This role will involve rotation between various dental satellite units, working Monday -Friday, 37.5 hours a week, within both KCH and QMS Hospitals. The workload is varied and flexible, thus staff are also expected to reflect this in their attitude and approach to work. You will be expected to:

  1. Help with organising the day-to-day workload within the Dental Radiology department.
  2. Perform and maintain high standards of clinical work.
  3. Maintain a high standard of patient care and ensure that all precautions are taken, to prevent the occurrence of accidents to patients, visitors and other members of staff.
  4. Actively assist in any Quality Assurance, Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Audit Programmes as required.
  5. Utilize imaging protocols correctly as defined in the Dental X-ray Department.
  6. Use the dental x-ray equipment and accessories correctly and keep them clean.
  7. Report any faults or unsafe conditions in any item of equipment, to the Clinical Specialist/Deputy Superintendent.
  8. Instruct staff and students in the safe and effective use of all equipment and techniques.
  9. Assist in the orientation and development of new staff to the department
  10. Maintain effective liaison with all staff within KCH and QMS.
  11. Keep up to date and be actively involved in Continuing Professional Development and be fully conversant with the latest radiographic techniques.
