Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking 2 highly motivated, enthusiastic nurses to join Katherine Monk Ward as a Ward Managers for a 1 year fixed term contract. The successful candidates will work together to provide 7 day cover and will compromise of a 50/50 split between clinical and managerial responsibilities over a seven day service to include long days/nights and weekends. Katherine Monk Ward is a 26 bedded Trauma Ward in Kings College Hospital serving the South East of London, the ward is fast paced, demanding and has multiple trauma/surgical specialties. You must demonstrate excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. We require individuals who are forward thinking, well organised and with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. You will lead by example, commit to team working and will have the necessary skills to support the team. Excellent communication skills, ability to support and empower others, a passion for working in trauma and surgery as well as proactive approach to delivery of high standards of evidence based care are essential components to this post. You must have the ability to promote patient centred care and establish good relationships with staff, patients and families. To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team and with the support of the Matron and band 6 team lead and develop the team and the service we deliver.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role for the successful candidate include:
1.To assume responsibility for the trauma ward and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
2.To lead and develop the nursing team in the care of trauma and orthopaedic patients and assist in the development of clinical competencies
3.To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both the patients and their relatives within the King's College Hospital.
4.To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.
5.To be an effective clinical leader and role model with good delegation and supervisory abilities.
6.To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide patients and relatives with high quality nursing care
7.To undertake managerial responsibilities ensuring staff management is safe, effective and within the assigned budget. Strong involvement in recruitment and retention programmes.
8. To work alongside the ward consultant and service manager to drive forward quality and excellent patient care
9. To provide 7 day leadership and visibility on the ward.
