Job summary

We are looking for Registered Nurses to join our Orthopaedic Care Group on our two sites:

  • Orpington Hospital
  • Princess Royal University Hospital.

This is an exciting time to join our orthopaedic care group which is just under a year old. We have vacancies in the following areas:

Surgical Ward 7: A 28 bedded Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward based at the PRUH. This ward serves a diverse range of patient groups, where you can gain experience with treating the acutely unwell, to expert falls management and dementia care. We have a dynamic othro-geriatric team which deliver high standards and lower than average length of stay to our fracture neck of femur patients.

Bodington Ward: A 24 bedded green pathway Elective Orthopaedic Ward based at Orpington Hospital. This busy ward serves the three dedicated orthopaedic theatres that operate Monday to Friday with a mixture of day case and inpatient activity.

We have our dedicated Orthopaedic Practice Development Nurse and there will be opportunity to undertake accredited post graduate university course to underpin your orthopaedic knowledge. You will gain links with our wider team within the plaster room and orthotics and our clinical nurse specialists in Trauma and Neck of Femur.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the day-to-day delivery of the infusion nursing service and endocrinology investigations.
  • Ensuring the nursing care delivered is of a high standard.
  • Appropriate and effective utilization of human and physical resources.
  • The demonstration of effective leadership and motivation of staff.
  • To be an effective role model.
  • To provide evidence based care in line with current research and guidelines.
  • To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and Programmed Investigation Unit.

  • Deliver, maintain and monitor agreed standards of nursing care with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To assist in the delivery and care of nursing service for patients under the care of rheumatology, endocrinology, immunology, neurology, diabetes gastroenterology and dermatology.

Research and Service Development
