Job summary

AdvertThe Infection Prevention and Control team, which are based on2 sites are looking for an IPC Matron/Practitioner for the PRUH site.Your post will consist of advising and supporting PRUH & SS with the implementation of the IPC annual work programme to meet all its HCAI objectives .

The successful candidate will work alongside the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), contributing to the development of servicestrategy and directly providing tactical leadership, specialist expert advice, in the field of infection prevention and control. You should demonstratea strong commitment to team working and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Your ability to manage and motivate others is an absolute requirement of this post. Implementing change and meeting deadlines in order toachieve challenging objectives to reduce the risk of patients acquiring infections whilst in hospital, you may just be the ideal candidate for us.

Whilst having responsibility for the line management of junior staff within the team, you will also be supporting the Head of Nursing across site, to deliver the Trust's Infection Prevention & Control Strategy and work plan at a clinical and operational level.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice at an advanced level demonstrating a high level of autonomy and clinical decision-making and will be responsible forthe day-to-day Infection Prevention and Control operational activities.

You will work as a highly specialised member of the Infection Prevention and Control team, reducing the incidence of infection in the organisation, through risk assessment, surveillance, audit, quality initiatives and education.

The role is a collaborative one, working with individuals and care groups, across professional and organisational boundaries.Our infection prevention & control colleagues are a large and active body of multi professional staff including the IPC/VAT & Surveillance Teams, Bladder and Bowel service, Infection Prevention & Control Doctors, Microbiologists, Virologists & Antimicrobial Pharmacists.
