Job summary

We have an exciting secondment opportunity within the Day Surgery and Pre-operative Assessment unit at our Denmark Hill site for a Practice Development Nurse. The successful candidate should have a broad experience base across day surgery / POA. They will also work as part of the wider Theatres and Anaesthetics care group PDN team providing consistency in support for staff.

Main duties of the job

To provide education and training to all staff across Day Surgery and Pre-operative Assessment

To work as part of the wider practice development team in Theatres and Anaesthetics care group.

In carrying out the duties of the post, the employee is required to work in accordance with the policies and procedures of King's College Hospital, including Health and Safety, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities. King's College Hospital operates a no smoking policy.

  • To support and coordinate the development of Health Care Assistants, pre- and post-registration nursing and ODP students by co-ordinating educational activities and assessments of learning within the department.
  • To work as part of the wider Theatres and Anaesthetics, care group practice development team in maintaining cross department teaching and support for all learners across the care group.
  • To support with statutory and mandatory training as required to ensure compliance within the Care Group and Trust wide (including, but not limited to, ALERT, ILS, ALS.)
  • To actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across the Care Group and Trust wide.
  • To provide effective role modelling and leadership by working clinically
  • To act as the education and training lead for the specialist area of practice
