Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and devoted pharmacist to join our pharmacy clinical trial team at King's College Hospital.
Our portfolio is expanding and we are managing over 400 trials in pharmacy for a wide range of speciality including neurology, liver, renal, haematology, rheumatology, ophthalmology and more.
The post holder will work closely with dedicated Research Delivery Unit and our team to set up and maintain pharmacy aspect of clinical trials.
Main duties of the job
To lead and manage Pharmacy research and development activities, specifically with regard to commercial and non-commercial trials adopted within the National Institute of Health Research Portfolio (NIHR) - "portfolio studies".
To liaise between the Trust R&D team and the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy services meet the required standards and are responsive to the Trust's R&D agenda.
To provide specialist input and advice on all aspects on medicines management in drug trials, in particular safe management of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) within the Trust.

Main Responsibilities
- To work closely with the leads clinical pharmacy services in clinical trial to lead on support, advice and management in relation to the IMP management of clinical trials in the Trust.
- To liaise with specialist care group pharmacists, the KHPCTO, Clinical Research Associates, investigators and other staff groups involved in clinical trials provision, as appropriate.
- To proactively develop pharmacy services in relation to clinical trials in line with national objectives and Kings Health Partners strategies.
- To work with the Principal Pharmacist to extend the boundaries of professional practice within the division.
- To establish processes for measuring standards of service and reporting on performance.
- To identify and manage changes that need to occur to improve services.
- To identify and manage the risks associated with the medicines use process relevant to clinical trials.
- To act as a clinical role model in relation to highly specialist expertise in the area of clinical trials and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of clinical trial drugs in these patients.
- To ensure safe dispensing practice and supervise the dispensing of clinical trials medicines (IMPs and Non-Investigational Medicinal Products (NIMPs)) at KCH.
- To promote and deliver pharmaceutical care for all patients.
- To provide education and training to pharmacy and other staff in relation to clinical trials.
