Job summary
The Nuclear Medicine & PET-CT Department is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Technologist/Radiographer on a part time basis, based at Denmark Hill.
Applications would be welcome from Clinical Technologists/Radiographers currently working in Nuclear Medicine. Applications from Radiographers with no Nuclear Medicine experience will not be accepted. This post is also suitable for newly qualified Clinical Technologists graduating from the Practitioner Training Programme or from the IPEM Clinical Technologist Training Scheme.
Candidates from the UK will be expected to be eligible for the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) or in the process of applying, or be HCPC-registered and currently working in Nuclear Medicine. Candidates from overseas will be expected to join the RCT after appointment.

Technologists/radiographers work to a flexible rota covering Monday-Friday opening hours. In return for your commitment to us we will provide ongoing support for your continuing professional development, including opportunities to attend training days & seminars and present at national and international conferences.
Main duties of the job
You will join a friendly and inclusive multidisciplinary team of Clinical Technologists/Radiographers, Clinical Scientists, Nurses, Physicians and Clerical staff providing support services at King's, Denmark Hill. The department houses a Siemens Intevo Bold SPECT-CT scanner, a GE Discovery 710 PET-CT scanner, a Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT-CT scanner, a GE Prodigy DEXA scanner and a non-imaging in-vitro service. You will have the opportunity to be trained and work in all of these areas.
The PET-CT service (managed in partnership with Alliance Medical) includes FDG, Ga-PSMA, Ga-Dotatate, Amyloid tracers, Cardiac imaging and Y90-PET and is in the process of introducing contrast-enhanced PET-CT, and you will be trained in all of these procedures.
The department performs approximately 10,000 procedures per year and, in addition to its diagnostics workload, has a significant commitment to Radionuclide therapy in collaboration with other clinical departments (including benign and malignant thyroid disease, Lutathera PRRT and SIRT). King's College Hospital is the lead site for King's Health Partners ENETS Centre of Excellence, providing the diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumours.

Technical Duties
- To perform all diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures (including SPECT-CT, PET-CT and DEXA) with due regard for Health & safety of self, patients and staff.
- To undertake the intravenous administration of all diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals and drugs used in the practice of Nuclear Medicine as prescribed in the legislation and SOPs.
- To be accountable for the adherence to all SOPs, protocols and guidelines by junior members of staff and students.
- To respond to scheduling demands from patients and referrers for all nuclear medicine studies in accordance with departmental protocols.
- To assess patient and referrer requirements and adapt procedures (in consultation with clinicians) to ensure individual needs of each patient are met.
- To take responsibility for patient consent, identification and relevant clinical details is obtained prior to commencement of imaging, in accordance with Trust and professional legislation.
- To liaise with clinical scientists to ensure all images are ready to be processed in a timely manner.
- During exposure to sealed and unsealed radioactive material, blood samples and other hazardous waste ensure working practice is in accordance with government legislation and departmental policies.
- Take action in reporting, investigating and responding to potential and actual incidents.
