Working Full time: 40 hours per week

An exciting opportunity for a tier 2 ST3+ doctor to work within our established department has arisen. This is an ideal post for the successful applicant to further develop their paediatric skills. Our busy department offers an excellent standard of training.

Applicants must be competent at the level of ST3 equivalent or above. Candidates must have a minimum 18 months on-call experience within paediatrics including neonates. APLS & NLS (or equivalent) certificates are essential. MRCPCH Parts 1 A&B are highly desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will have responsibility for providing service at Tier 2 level and will be responsible for supervising the Tier 1 Specialty and Foundation Trainees and their daily management of patients on the wards. The post offers comprehensive training in all aspects of hospital paediatrics including outpatient and neonatal care.

The successful candidate would be expected to work a rota inclusive of Long days (0830-2100), Standard Days (0830-1630) and Nights (2030-0900). A degree of flexibility in these shifts would be welcomed to cover trainee rota vacancies. There may also be occasions where the doctor is allocated to cover an outpatient clinic list with consultant supervision.

o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
