We are offering an opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian with an interested in Paediatrics to join our friendly team. We are a team of 5 Paediatric Dietitians and 1 Dietetic Assistant.

An enthusiasm for paediatrics is essential, and previous experience would be beneficial. However, full training can be provided and post could be offered as a Band 5 to 6 training post - please indicate in your application if you are interested in this option. You will be supported by experienced Paediatric Dietitians and the wider MDT. We can offer a robust in-house training programme, with options for further CPD.

The post holder will provide dietetic support for paediatric conditions, including cows' milk allergy, oral and enteral nutrition support, diabetes and feeding issues. This role may include delivering an open age clinic in primary care. The post holder will also cover the paediatric ward at the Countess of Chester (including delivering teaching for Level 3 carb counting). The successful candidate will be based at the Countess of Chester and may attend other locations inc. Ellesmere Port Hospital and GP surgeries.

We are looking for HCPC registered dietitians ideally with recent UK NHS clinical experience. Given the clinical nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to perform their duties on-site at the hospital.

This is a clinical role working within children and families. You will have a high degree of autonomy in your clinical practice and day-to-day organisation of your workload, within the context of a supportive team of peers.

Your application should include details of your recent clinical experience including any areas of specialism. We also require details of your qualifications, CPD and registration.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel between the two main hospital sites (The Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital), and to carry out community visits as needed so a full UK driving licence and access to a car will be beneficial.

About us

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
