As the Deputy Operational Manager for Theatres and HSDU you will be responsible for the quality of care delivered in a busy theatre unit over the 24hr period. You will ensure that perioperative care delivery is of a high standard, evidence based, and patient centred. You will set, monitor and maintain quality perioperative care standards in accordance with national guidance.

You will provide visible and accessible leadership to the service; upholding professional standards and always working within the NMC/HPC Code of Professional Conduct and in line with Trust Policy and Procedures. Actively promoting good communication and working collaboratively you will support, assist and contribute to the achievement of departmental, directorate and Trust key quality indicators and objectives

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

You will work within the clinical and financial frameworks of the organisation and working with the Matron for Planned Care will take the lead on associated policy development for theatres and the directorate; and will ensure effective and efficient use of theatre and directorate resources.

You will provide line management and provide operational leadership for the departments on a day to day basis, including staff working on internal rotation on night duty and at weekends.

Accountable for the quality of care delivered within the theatre department on a 24hour basis.

Act as a visible leader within Theatres and HSDU providing leadership that enables professional decision making and effective team working, direct responsibility for line management of specialist area of responsibility.

Co-ordination of the unit on a day to day basis including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out by teams or individuals and self.
