Job summary

East Cheshire Podiatry service provides routine podiatry for high risk patients and specialist services including wound care, nail surgery, biomechanical assessment and orthotic provision, and a domiciliary service.

The service is offered in variety of settings across a large geographical area, including hospital inpatients, community clinics, health centres and GP surgeries providing a range of advanced clinicalfootservices to the local population.

We are looking to recruit a Podiatrist to join our East Cheshire NHS Trust Community Podiatry Service.

You must hold a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine, together with a Certificate in Local Anaesthesia. Evidence of Continued Professional Development is also essential.

Experience of working in the community and NHS is beneficial.

The successful candidate will need to be a team player with excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills. They will also require a positive attitude to personal and professional development.Travel is an integral part of this post and you must state on your application form how you intend to fulfil this essential requirement.

This position is offered on a Bank basis which is 'as and when' required with no guaranteed hours however it does offer you increased flexibility by selecting shifts to work around your lifestyle.

Main duties of the job

The role of a Podiatrist in the Podiatry service is;

To assess, plan and provide the care needs of podiatric patients in a variety of settings

To provide treatment to patients to maintain mobility, independence, tissue viability and relieve discomfort; especially for those patients who are 'at risk' because of diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other systemic and localised conditions.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team, acting as a source of advice for patients, carers, GP's and other healthcare professionals.
