Job summary
Applications are invited for a motivated Speciality Doctor to join our Surgical department. Applicants should hold FRCS/MRCS or equivalent and have experience working at middle grade level.
The successful candidate will join an established team of 7 General Surgical and Colorectal Consultants, as well as taking part in an on-call rota with 1 Associate Specialists, 6 other Speciality Doctors and 1 ST3 plus doctors in training.
The job attracts 10PA's and the successful candidate will be expected to provide a high quality of service to elective and emergency patients, in General, Colorectal and breast Surgery. A candidate with GI endoscopy experience would be preferred, but not essential.
The unit is research and audit active and we are proud of our track record of growing and developing independent surgeons. Numerous previous colleagues have gone on to gain their FRCS part 111 and go on to work as Consultants.
Hours per week: 10 PA's
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in association with the Consultant, surgical teams and nursing staff to ensure inpatients admitted under that Consultant receive the highest level of care and treatment.
They will be expected to provide surgical advice and experience as requested and as he/she feels appropriate. They will be competent to render their services to patients in other wards and departments of the Hospital group.
They will be responsible when on duty for the continuing care of Surgical patients of the General Surgeons.
