Orthopaedic Lower Limb Team Leader

Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for an Orthopaedic Scrub (Lower Limb) Team Leader to join the busy Operating Theatres at Macclesfield District General Hospital. We are keen to recruit a motivated and forward thinking team member to assist with the day to day running of the operating theatres.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner who has previous Orthopaedic Scrub (Lower Limb) experience. The successful candidate will lead a team of staff and will assist with areas of management such as forward list reviews, loan kits, sickness, rostering and personal development reviews, in line with trust values.

As this post has weekend and OC requirements, the candidate will be expected to participate in a wide range of specialties including General Surgery, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, Ophthalmic, Obstetrics and Breast, alongside their main specialty of Orthopaedics and Trauma. You will be supported by senior staff within the department who will be able to assist you in the further development of your existing team working, leadership and motivational skills.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

To function as the lead practitioner for a designated area

To assist with forward planning of kit and equipment required within your area.

To lead and assist where required with the loan kit process from identification and ordering to return to supplier.

To manage a team, including management of sickness, rostering and developement of junior staff members, alongside anything else required.

To assist in the management of the area to ensure excellence in patient care and to have responsibility for staff and service development.

You will demonstrate a flexible approach to working and will co-ordinate with other colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams.

There is a commitment to on call and weekend working.
