This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team at Cheshire and Stockport Breast Screening Programme for a Bank Clinical Specialist Mammographer.
The service includes the Screening & Symptomatic Service based at East Cheshire NHS Trust and when needed, screening cover is also provided for Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust site
We run Screening and symptomatic services at East Cheshire/Macclesfield with three Siemens Mammography rooms with tomosynthesis capacity and 3 Ultrasound rooms. The Stockport mobile screening unit serves across the Stockport area
The post holder will lead in developing and delivering high quality patient centered care and working with the associated clinical team to ensure this is incorporated within the Directorate and Trust objectives.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will take a lead role in facilitating, enabling and supporting the development of this service based on best practice ensuring delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care within the Breast Imaging department.
- To remain an active member of the clinical radiography team carrying out the full range of radiographic duties.
- To provide reports and diagnosis on screening and symptomatic mammograms in accordance with national and local protocols, initiating further investigations as required.
- Participate in personal and departmental audit of mammographic reporting and recall procedures.
- To perform breast ultrasound within symptomatic and assessment clinics with an imaging Consultant. To perform ultrasound guided interventional procedures including cyst aspirations, image-guided fine needle aspiration and core biopsies. Also ultrasound guided localisation of lesions prior to breast surgery. Issue autonomous reports on these procedures.
- Participate in personal and departmental audit of ultrasound procedures.
- To provide an ultrasound service for clinics and manage symptomatic breast ultrasound lists, perform biopsies where appropriate and direct patient care.
- Participate in training and supervision of medical staff and students attached to breast unit.
- Attend audit and multi-disciplinary meetings.
