East Cheshire NHS Trust Audiology Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed manager of the Newborn Hearing Screening programme. The role is based at our main site at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
The post holder will take professional and operational responsibility for organising the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme in Macclesfield, including the management, training and development of the Newborn Hearing Screening Team in accordance with the policies of the National Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
Hours per week: 18.75

Main duties of the job
To act as the professional lead for the day-to-day management, evaluation and quality assurance of the screening process including the provision of antenatal information, the screening procedures and any onward referral.
To ensure all parents of eligible babies are offered the Newborn Hearing Screen in a timely fashion.
To ensure the hearing screening programme is carried out as per national and local protocols and to write, review and update local protocols and procedures as and when necessary.
To promote the principles of a 'family-friendly' service by ensuring that parents and carers are given clear and accurate information regarding the hearing screening programme at all times.
To maintain effective methods of communication to ensure that screening outcomes are delivered correctly to the parents, primary care teams, other Newborn Hearing Screening teams where appropriate and Audiology Services where follow-up is indicated.
To liaise with the national NHSP/QA teams and to attend regular updates and training events provided. To keep the screening team and local professionals and stakeholders informed about national developments.
To liaise with other newborn hearing screening programmes to ensure that families receive a seamless screening and follow up service.
