Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Breast Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee breast advanced practitioner, this is a three year programme, with ongoing mentorship and support whilst undertaking the Advanced Practice Programme. The role will develop the trainee to deliver advanced clinical practice assessments, knowledge and skills and a competency to care for patients with breast disease.

The role will enable the trainee to progress from a breast care nurse to practice independently. This will include, history taking, physical assessment, ordering and interpreting of investigations, diagnosing and managing benign and potentially malignant conditions, providing treatment and follow up care.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be based in the breast unit, following a structured education and assessment framework, focusing on patients who present at the breast rapid access clinic, drop in clinics, performing clinical examination and reviewing patients who attend for follow up appointments, including post surgery clinics and running of breast cancer follow up clinics.

Excellent communication skills and working within a multidisciplinary team team are essential.

  • Registered health care professional
  • RGN (Registered General Nurse)/RN (Registered Nurse)
  • Nursing Degree with evidence of recent (within 3 years study at level 6)
  • Advanced Communication skills training.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Breast care course
  • Eligible for entry onto MSC (Master of Science) programme

  • V300 Non-medical Prescribing Qualification- or working towards
  • Teaching/ mentoring qualification
