As an Assistant Practitioner in Hepatology you will be part of a brilliant, friendly, hard-working team who strive for excellent patient centred care.
The job role is primarily to provide support to the Hepatology Advanced Clinical Practitioners [ACP] and patients' who have hepatological related health problems.
The Assistant Practitioner will be responsible for administrative and clinical skills including fibro scanning.
You will be supported with on the job training opportunities to build on your current scope of practice. Providing support over the telephone to patients will be key in this position, therefore good communication skills are essential. The trust has guidelines and policies to follow that you will become familiar with to help support your role. This is a development role, : if the successful applicant is appointed at band 3 they will be supported to complete the Assistant Practitioner qualification as part of their development in role and once completed would be moved up to a band 4

Main duties of the job
The Assistant Practitioner will provide support to the Hepatology Advanced Clinical Practitioners [ACP] and patients' who have hepatological related health problems.
The post holder will assist with the assessment and management of patients and they will undertake a range of administrative and practical skills including independent fibro scanning, to an expert level.
The successful applicant will form a professional judgement of an individual's health condition and identify appropriate investigations to be carried out according to the correct protocols.
The post holder will manage their own role with guidance available from the ACP, supervision and teaching of staff will also be a part of this position as well as liaising with the multi-disciplinary team.

- Good General Education with GCSE English and Mathematics
- Level 3 Health or social care qualification (e.g. NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) or similar)
- Relevant Health or Social Care experience including face to face patient contacts
- Previous NHS experience
Desirable
- Recognised qualification for Assistant Practitioner or Level 4 Health or social care qualification (e.g. foundation degree)
- Knowledge of relevant hepatological treatments, interventions and terminology.

- Ability to work flexibly dependent on the needs of the service.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to respond to different communication needs of patients in different settings
- Basic computer skills i.e. can use email, excel, PCS, word, and can access policies on the Trust intranet
