The Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) Lead is an exciting new role within East Cheshire NHS Trust. The post has been established to support the implementation and roll out of Professional Nurse Advocate role and as Lead PNA you will be a visible role model, supporting and providing restorative supervision across the clinical directorates.

You will be an ambassador who promotes the wellbeing and empowerment of nurses and supports them to deliver quality improvement initiatives in the workplace, inspiring a culture of improved patient safety & experience outcomes for patients and staff. You will be required to work autonomously and be resilient and adaptable to the challenges facing the nursing workforce.

This post requires possession of the nationally recognised PNA qualification.

The post offers a fixed term contract or secondment for 12 months from appointment and is an exciting development opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about facilitating supervision, training and supporting the health and wellbeing of their nursing colleagues.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

The Lead PNA will be responsible for:

  • the delivery of frontline professional restorative clinical supervision, through the implementation of the "A-EQUIP" model.
  • the implementation of the Trust PNA framework in line with national and regional guidance
  • Visible leadership and full oversight of the PNA role implementation across the Trust using a continuous quality improvement approach.
  • acting as the named point of contact for accessing Restorative Clinical Supervision supporting the wellbeing of our Nurses
  • Coordinate and have oversight of initial and annual update training programs for PNAs, supporting named PNA's to meet their role requirements, and maintain competency and ensure that succession planning is in place.
  • Provide assurance on the implementation , progress and outcomes of the role and ensuring that quality standards are maintained, and monitoring systems are developed.
  • Representg the Trust across the PNA network ,closely working with the NHSE regional PNA Coordinator regarding the recruitment, training and ongoing CPD of PNA's.
