Job summary

East Cheshire NHS Trust is committed to driving innovation in healthcare through the use of data analytics. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated data engineer to join our dynamic team on a fixed term contract to support the implementation of our new electronic patient record system.

You will play a critical role in the successful implementation of our new EPR system by contributing to the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure, enabling the reliable and efficient flow of data across our organisation.

Working closely with the data analysts, you will contribute to the design, implementation and optimisation of data integration processes and data warehousing solutions.

You will collaborate with stakeholders in the EPR programme, including project managers, data analysts and operational managers, to understand data requirements and develop key datasets supporting local and national reports including CDS and SITREPs.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

The overall aim of the role is to support and proactively maintain the trust's data warehouse to underpin the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to support and improve health and health care delivery at the trust.

The post holder will collaborate with stakeholders in the EPR programme in the development of key operational reports and datasets, ensuring that the data flows in to the data warehouse are accurate and efficient.

Additionally, they will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the trust's information data warehouse so that the Information Department can deliver services to all parts of the Trust. This involves supporting data feeds, databases, platform environment, system security, system planning and technical documentation.

Essential

  • oEducated to Degree level
  • oMicrosoft Certification (in SQL server/Azure) or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • oIn-depth knowledge of SQL server.
  • oIn-depth knowledge of SQL development/coding
  • oExtensive knowledge of messaging technologies
  • oExtensive knowledge of writing SQL and stored procedures and query tuning on high transaction systems.
  • oKnowledge of database mirroring using processes such as change data capture
  • oKnowledge of Business Intelligence systems and reporting tools such as Power BI Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • oExperience of working in an Information Management team of large organisation
