Job summary
The Deputy Named Nurse for Children Looked After will support the Named Nurse in delivering professional leadership, expert advice and safeguarding oversight for children looked after and care leavers. The role works across North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire and is based at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital and Scunthorpe Hospital.
Working within a commissioned service across NHS Humber and North Yorkshire, the post holder will help ensure statutory responsibilities are met and high-quality, trauma-informed care is delivered to children and young people, including those with complex needs such as SEND or who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
The role involves close collaboration with safeguarding teams and multi-agency partners to support service development, policy implementation, training and clinical supervision, ensuring compliance with national guidance and promoting the health, wellbeing and safety of children and young people in care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively within a multi-agency environment, building effective partnerships with children's social care, police, CAMHS, education and voluntary services to promote the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of children looked after and care leavers. Supporting and deputising for the Named Nurse, the role will provide professional leadership, expert advice and clinical guidance across the organisation, contributing to service development, policy implementation and strategic planning. The successful candidate will participate in and, where appropriate, chair multi-agency meetings, contribute to safeguarding processes and investigations, and provide specialist health input to complex cases, including risk management and planning meetings. The role also includes supporting clinical supervision, delivering safeguarding training, advising staff on best practice and legal frameworks, and contributing to audit, monitoring and continuous service improvement to ensure compliance with national standards and the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed care.
