Job summary

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust are looking to recruit Specialty Doctors in Stroke Medicine to join our existing team. The advertised full time substantive posts attracts 11 programmed activities inclusive of on-call duties

Our Stroke team is always looking for opportunities to develop and improve services and promote innovation. We are looking for individuals who are keen and interested in delivering care within the Stroke Service in the ever-changing and challenging environment of modern day healthcare. Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to contribute to a service which is both Consultant-led and delivered.

  • Undertake a daily ward round of the allocated bed base
  • Review all new medical admissions when rostered for on- call duty within the timeframe of the operational standard for the service and remain responsible for the care of these patients until they are either discharged from or transferred to another specialty ward if applicable.
  • Assess all new admissions to HASU and Stroke ward
  • Support the team to deliver effective, safe, and timely care in line with the operating standards of the Stroke wards
  • Ensure appropriate handover of care at the end of a shift to the next responsible clinician.
  • Liaise with specialty clinicians to facilitate their early involvement
  • Further develop functional links with the community to facilitate seamless transfer of patients between the community and the hospital.
  • Ensure timely completion of all documentation pertinent to an admission, transfer, discharge or death, in line with hospital standards.
  • Supervise and ensure robust and effective hospital clinical handover at 09:00 am each morning Monday - Friday moving to 7 days when service extends
  • To engage and work in line with the Criteria to reside principles as set out by the Trust
  • Contribute to the Thrombolysis and Ward Cover on call rota

The post would suite an enthusiastic team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Acute Medicine procedures in this busy DGH

The post holder is expected to contribute to a service which is both Consultant-led and delivered.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full registration with the GMC and licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • In process of doing MRCP with at least part 1/part 2 & PACES.
  • Must have experience of working in Stroke Unit or clinical attachment in Stroke Unit in UK/Overseas.
  • Must have good knowledge and work experience of Internal Medicine
  • Evidence of specific training in Stroke medicine / Acute medicine and/ or general medicine

  • UK experience is desirable.
  • Experience of working as part of Stroke Thrombolysis Rota (UK/Overseas).
  • Evidence of 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK/Overseas of which at least 2 year's training must be in relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training.
