Senior Estates Officer (Mechanical)

Job summary

North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS trust require a highly motivated Senior Estates Officer who will be based in the Estates Department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby and is required to play a proactive part within the Estates & Capital Management team to meet Trust objectives in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner and compliant with legislation and good practice. As Senior Estates Officer you will report directly to the Senior Estates Manager. You will provide effective management and leadership support for the team of Estates Officers and other Estates & Capital Services staff in Estates Operational Maintenance, Additional Works, Capital Backlog and Maintenance Services. You will be supported by performance management arrangements and encourage team working, by providing the varied skills that support the Department's philosophy and flexible working. The post holder will receive training in elements required but will have Engineering skills and acquire the skills to support this flexibility in a safe and professional manner. The post holder will be expected to work across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have technical, managerial and supervisory control over subordinate staff and specialist contractors and will be expected to manage data and information to ensure an economic quality service, ensuring compliance with Trust standards, procedures and legislation.

The post holder will manage risk in order to maximise compliance with statutory & service requirements within available resources.

The post holder is appointed to Authorised Person roles in keeping with requirements laid down in Hospital Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health and Safety documentation.

The post holder should have an Engineering related HNC/HND or a higher level qualification.

The post holder will be required to participate in the Estates & Facilities Directorate emergency on- call rota.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively lead, motivate and be committed to the development of the department regarding training and Staff development.

Ensure planned preventative and reactive maintenance work, undertaken by in-house maintenance staff and specialist contractors and to ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and legislation.

To manage and arrange shutdowns to facilitate progress on major capital schemes and minor schemes of a more complex work. Acting as Authorised Person for specialist services as required in line with relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTM).

  • A minimum qualification of a Foundation Degree, HND Engineering in Mechanical and / or Electrical Engineering
  • Evidence of continuing Professional Development
  • CMI/ILM Level 5 or evidence or demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • A recognised form of computer skills training such as European Computer Driving License
  • HTM knowledge of specialist systems

Experience

  • Evidence of success in leading and implementing significant change programs within an NHS or other complex organisation
  • Experience of managing a range of Estates services issues including: procurement, contractors, planning, quality standards, governance and H&S issues
