Job summary

We are looking for an Therapy Assistant to take up this role within our community Therapy service based at Global House in Scunthorpe.

This team sees a range of community patients working in patients own homes, community clinics and care homes. You will be involved in the acute rehabilitation of patients and ensuring they achieve their goals and return to previous levels of independence and mobility and function.

Main duties of the job

NLAG is part of one of the largest acute and community Group arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Group has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ III Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support or equivalent
  • Current full UK clean driving license.
  • Mathematics and English qualification to Level 2 or GCSE C

Desirable

  • Other training related to post or clinical area such as Child Protection, Orthotics, sports and leisure, swimming qualification

Occupational experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with patients in a health care environemnt
  • IT skills

Desirable

  • Have an understanding of patients who are frail, elderly and have multi pathologies including mental health problems.

Management

Essential

  • Able to manage delegated Tasks and patient caseload

Communication

Essential

  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Clear, effective and mature communication with people of all ages and professions both individually and in a group setting

  • Good personal organization skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
