We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Advanced Clinical Prescribing Pharmacist to join our friendly and supportive pharmacy ward-based team within Cancer Services and Clinical Trials.

You will lead and co-ordinate delivery of the Pharmacy service to the Cancer and Clinical Trial Services team, and lead and develop relevant clinical / pharmaceutical audit and research. You will be the key point for providing expert pharmaceutical advice to patients and other members of the multidisciplinary team across our acute hospital at Scunthorpe.

Following a supportedstructured induction process, you will provide dynamic leadership to the team and demonstrate high quality acute clinical pharmacy skills. Working flexibility to support the Trust's directive of 7 day working and participating in rotas and/or shift working as necessary, including weekend and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The post is suitable as a progression role from a band 7 to 8a, for example when the post holder can manage autonomously a case load of patients within a clinic setting, using prescribing and clinical assessment and examination skills after appropriate training.

The post holder will be an integrated member of the cancer services multidisciplinary team, fulfilling a distinct clinical role that is specific to cancer services and Trials.

The role is patient facing, with the post holder delivering direct patient care. There will be a specific focus on chemotherapy and contributing to managing the toxicities associated with treatment, and the medicines optimisation aspects of care.

The successful candidate will work and support the chemotherapy day unit, providing on hand support to the Scunthorpe site and (when appropriate) remote support to the Scunthorpe site, and the Lloyds homecare unit. Patients will receive pharmacy input on their 1st cycle of treatment.

  • Masters' qualification in Pharmacy (4 years), or equivalent qualification, plus pre-registration training.
  • Registrant of the GPhC
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in hospital Pharmacy (or equivalent relevant experience)

Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Holds a non-medical prescribing qualification.

Occupational Experience
