An exciting opportunity has arisen in a newly created role to join our busy and friendly operating department at Grimsby hospital.
This role will help the clinical teams by ordering stock, maintaining stock levels and keeping all areas clean tidy.
The ability to work on your own initiative is required, but all relevant training and support will be provided
Main duties of the job
The Theatre Support Worker (TSW) is a member of a multidisciplinary Departmental team who undertakes duties in relation to patient care and ward/department administration, to support the 5 principles of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy which reflect the organisations commitment to quality and the expectations of high-quality nursing care in the Acute Hospital setting.
Delegated work and duties will be assigned and carried out under the direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner.
The post holder will provide support to the theatre department and theatre teams, supporting a range of theatre stores duties, ensuring that efficient stock control and ordering of consumables, implants and equipment is maintained, the post holder will also ensure that areas are kept clean and tidy.

Job responsibilities
- Receiving deliveries and putting them away ensuring stock control and rotation of stock is robust.
- Reordering and replenishing stock when required to agreed set levels.
- Working with specialty leads, especially in orthopaedics and trauma to ensure that essential and special supplies are ordered in a timely manner and that systems are in place to minimize any disruption to service needs.
- Report any low levels of stock or supply issues to the relevant team lead
- Keeping areas clean and tidy and using appropriate systems to assist in efficient stock management such as labelling etc.
- Ensuring that a good returns process is followed and ensuring that any paperwork required is completed and forwarded to the relevant department.
- Liaise with all users within the theatre department and internal and external, departments and suppliers.
- Liaise closely with the Receipt and Distribution team.
- Develop systems that will improve present areas of stock control and communication streams.
- Timely reporting any discrepancies to the person in charge of the unit.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas
- Ensure theatre suites are adequately stocked for all operating sessions.
- Report any accidents, incidents, untoward occurrences to the person in charge, and report incidents where applicable into the Trusts reporting system Ulysees
- To undertake any other duties and tasks which may arise, and which may reasonably be deemed to come within the scope of this post.

- Attend mandatory study sessions and training associated with the maintenance of the skills and knowledge required to fulfil the role.
- Participate in the staff appraisal process.
- Provide a safe environment for the safety and welfare of patients, visitors and staff by ensuring compliance with:

- Fire Prevention Management.
- Infection Control procedures.
- Risk Management.
- COSHH.
