Job summary

The Enhanced Reporting Radiographer will be reporting Musculoskeletal (MSK) Chest and Abdomen radiographs, You must hold a Society of Radiographers accredited reporting qualification, and must have undertaken an initial audit prior to commencing independent reporting.

This post recognises that not all Reporting Radiographers wish to relinquish their established roles and skills, or wish to progress to Advanced Practice with the accreditation standards required for that position.

The Reporting Radiographer will work within the established Radiographer reporting service with the Head of General Radiology to provide hot and cold reporting in general radiography and be responsible for his/her clinical work and professional development.

Consideration will be given to applicants who have accreditation in one of the modules , MSK or Chest and Abdomen. Training will be provided for the module that is not presently held. During this period the contract will be 0.6wete Band 7 reporting and 0.4wte Senior Clinical Radiographer.

Main duties of the job

  • The Reporting Radiographer will work within the established Radiographer reporting service with the Head of General Radiology to provide hot and cold reporting in general radiography and be responsible for his/her clinical work and professional development
  • The Reporting Radiographer will be located at a specific base site but will be required to report work from all Trust sites
  • The Reporting Radiographer will provide professional advice and expertise to all members of the radiography team and be recognised and accessible as an expert in their specified field. He/she will promote best practice and disseminate knowledge to the profession and the surrounding healthcare environment. The Reporting Radiographer will undertake reflective evaluation of his/her own practice and will partake in the supervision, teaching and professional advancement of radiographers, radiology assistants and student radiographers
  • The Reporting Radiographer will be expected to manage his/her own specialist workload effectively whilst maintaining associated records to allow for ongoing personal audit.
