We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic RGN / Mental Health Nurse with a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to work Trust wide supporting the Named Nurse MCA / DOLS, Safeguarding Adults Team and the wider Vulnerabilities team.
This is an exciting opportunity with plenty of challenges to support the Wards to be MCA compliant, improving understanding and confidence through supervision and delivering more formal mandatory teaching sessions.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the job is to improve prevention and early and accurate identification and management of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, by leadership, expert practice, research and education.
The post holder will do this through supporting activities to ensure that the organisation meets its Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards responsibilities with regards to Young people (aged 16 and 17) and Adults, implementing strategies, protocols, pathways and action plans to strengthen the trusts management of Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards issues. There will be a focus on robust risk management systems to ensure safe, efficient, effective and timely management of the Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards agenda with the Named Nurse MCA/DOLS seeking assurances from and holding to account services regarding their Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards responsibilities
They will demonstrate skills and competencies to influence the pathways of care in the Safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards of vulnerable people.

- oRegistered with a statutory health professional council.
- oProfessional Qualification, Nurse Allied Health Professional, Social worker and registration with the relevant professional body.
- oGraduate level qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience in MCA
- oEvidence of continued professional development in MCA
- oTeaching/ Assessing/Mentoring qualification
- 2 years' experience in a multi agency context at a high level
- oExperience of training staff groups in aspects to MCA
Desirable
- oTo have or working towards a masters degree
- oLeadership qualification
- oPost registration qualification in safeguarding

- oExperience to clinically motivate and supervise a team
