Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is developing dynamic new Integrated Acute Assessment Units to enable us to deliver acute services in line with the national drive for Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). If you would like to be engaged with innovative clinical care, we are interested in hearing from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 nursing lead to drive standards and performance within our SDEC department. SDEC is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients. It aims to benefit both patients and the healthcare system by reducing waiting times and hospital admissions, where appropriate.

Patients can be referred to SDEC treatment through different routes, including following streaming or triage in emergency departments (EDs), Direct referral from GPs, direct transfer from ambulance services, Direct referral from NHS 111. SDEC is an integrated service, and it is an expectation that multiple specialties will be managed including surgical, medical, frailty , gynaecology & ENT.

Main duties of the job

You need to be passionate about providing high quality, same day emergency care in what is a fast paced, evolving and exciting area of acute emergency care. You must have excellent communication skills and be excited about being part of an innovative nursing team.

The successful applicant must have 2 years' experience as a Band 5/6 in an acute setting, with experience of leading a shift. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and you should be able to motivate the team to achieve and surpass the expectations of our patients, visitors and colleagues. As a senior member of the team, you will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills and be confident in your clinical and communication skills. It is an expectation that you will oversee the daily management of the unit with the support of the senior management team .
