Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic Senior Mental Health Nurses (Band 6) to join University Hospitals of North Midlands. We are looking for two applicants from a Mental Health Nurse background who are looking at taking on a role in an Acute Trust.

This role will operate Monday to Friday between 9-5.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Deputy Lead for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities with the delivery of Mental Health education and support programmes for clinical staff within an acute setting. To provide visible clinical support for all areas, to support clinical staff in managing Mental Health presentations and to provide specialist advice relating to Mental Health within departments.

The post holder will work closely with Mental Health Liaison Teams across both UHNM sites, Royal Stoke and County Hospital to ensure timely discharge planning and will actively engage in in multi-agency working for the trust and attend and play an active role in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

The post holder will support clinical colleagues with emergencies relating to Mental Health, rapid tranquilisation guidance and least restrictive practice and will offer support and guidance to staff following incidents relating to Mental Health and Dementia.

The post holder will assist the Deputy Lead for Mental Health and Learning Disability in meeting statutory duties and responsibilities relating to the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and will carry out regular audits to evidence Quality Improvement.
