Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Occupational Therapist to join our specialist Neuro-rehabilitation Team within the Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU). This is a unique opportunity to work in a hyperacute setting with a 10-bed specialised rehabilitation service, funded directly by NHS England, within theUHNM Major Trauma Centre. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals with complex neurological conditions: including acquired brain injury (includingprolonged disorders of consciousness), complex major trauma and spinal cord injury. The role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting both service delivery and team, service development.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver goal orientated occupational therapy assessments and interventions within a hyperacute rehabilitation setting-Manage a complex caseload of patients with neurological conditions, including acute acquired brain injury and prolonged disorders of consciousness-Act as a key worker, coordinating care and rehabilitation plans for patients with highly complex needs-Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve patient centred goals- Lead on clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and complex patientmanagement- Manage Occupational therapy rehabilitation treatments with patients who have a tracheostomy-Manage spasticity and postural control alongside members of the MDT-Supervise, mentor, and support junior members of the occupational therapy team, therapy technicians and students.- Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement - Contribute to facilitating complex discharges from the acute hospital to home or ongoing services required to suit patients individualised needs
