Job summary
A unique opportunity is available within the Sleep Physiology Department for a Clinical Physiologist / Healthcare Scientist. The department provides an extensive range of sleep diagnostic and therapeutic services.
You will be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal skills and have experience of leadership within a team. You will have the ability to work under pressure, autonomously and prioritise your individual workload, as well as be able to work effectively within a team and support development of staff and students. You must be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development and have experience in a wide range of diagnostic sleep investigations and therapies.
The post will be responsible for a specific area of the service and the line management of relevant members of the physiology and technologist team through working closely with the Sleep Service Lead and the Deputy Service Lead.

The role is working within the team not only in a advanced clinical capacity, but also in a leadership capacity assisting them to develop and expand the service as well as providing day to day supervision and support to other members of the team. The post holder will have responsibility for overseeing and facilitating a specific part of the service.

- To support the Sleep Service lead and Deputy in delivery and development of a comprehensive Sleep Sciences Department offering a wide range of routine and complex diagnostic tests and treatments.
- To support the Sleep Service lead and Deputy in providing day to day supervision and support.
- Act as the lead for specialist area within the department.
- To continue to develop key skills to enable them to take over the Sleep Service Lead in the future.
