Job summary
This post is a new post which has been created to manage the increasing demand upon the Oculoplastic service. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the existing Oculoplastic team to deliver a high quality and timely service to the local population. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to shape and contribute to the development of the service they will also work closely with the current team of consultant colleagues and participate in a 1 in 10 (both weekday and weekend) on call rota.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will participate in outpatient activity leading and managing both specialist Oculoplastic and general ophthalmology clinics, be involved in preoperative management prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients. It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend the equivalent of at two sessions in the operating theatre and three/four sessions a week in outpatient clinic in addition to administrative.

S/he will work closely with clinical colleague, nursing and other allied health care staff in order to enhance the level of patient care at the Trust.The final allocation of patient contact time, including theatre and clinics will be agreed in discussion with the Clinical Director.
