This is a fixed term LAS post to cover a deanery training gap from April 26 to the start of October 26
This post has been created to provide dedicated support to the Upper GI Surgical service at UHNM.
You will join an enthusiastic and dedicated team, working alongside the Consultants, SpecialistRegistrars, other Speciality doctors and an experienced team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, The post holder will gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of Upper GIwork.
You will be working with Consultant-led teams and will be responsible for the management of acute Upper GI admissions, you will also be responsible for being part of a general outpatient's team.
The post incorporates on call commitments, surgical training, research and audit work. The post willbe comparable to current ST posts with respect to responsibilities, audit and opportunities fortraining. The post holder would have designated supervised theatre sessions. The Upper GIDepartment at the University Hospital of North Midlands provides a broad range of specialist Upper GI training in areas such as specialist Oncological, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery services. The training provided in this post is very flexible according to the needs of thepost holder, but in particular, it would suit trainees wishing to pursue a career in Upper GI and in the process of applying for Higher Upper GI Training

- 6 months experience in substantive post in NHS in Upper GI surgery/General Medicine/General Surgery/ or equivalent experience

- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty equivalent to CT2 level at least
