Exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded team. Consultant Obstetrician post with an interest in Safeguarding. You will be part of a team of 32 Consultants. The unit was rated as Good by the CQC in March 2025.
The post-holder will be required to provide a full range of obstetric skills - managing the Labour Ward, Antenatal clinics, Section Lists, & Maternity Assessment Unit in collaboration with existing consultants & within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will have a weekly Fetal Medicine list.
The department has recently re-structured to ensure all consultants are contributing equally across the fetal medicine, fetal growth, preterm birth & rainbow clinics. The department will provide FM scan lists to Shrewsbury and Telford population in Princess Royal Hospital Site one day a week.
There are regular local & West Midlands regional meetings, MDT with cardiology team. The post holder must have an ATSM/SITM in Fetal Medicine/Prenatal Diagnosis & Advanced Labour ward or equivalent.
The applicant will participate in the trust leadership programmes &participate in scan training of the Resident doctor tier. There are opportunities to grow into leading a service with adequate support.
Clinical Duties will be across the Royal Stoke & County Hospital Sites. On-call is 1:16 weekday & 1:7.7 weekend obstetric on-call. (Weekends are Split to align presence & on-call on a Friday & Sunday sequence, followed by a Saturday sequence)
Main duties of the job

There is a dedicated Women's Health Centre located at the County Site which houses a Midwife Birth Centre, Ante Natal, Post Natal and gynaecological clinics as well as a diagnostic ambulatory unit.
The Directorate provides elective and emergency inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory care for women of North Staffordshire and surrounding areas who are referred with either Gynaecological problems or are pregnant.
Gynaecology inpatients at the RSUH are managed on a female Gynaecology and Urology ward with the majority of patients seen as outpatients in the Surgical Clinic within the main hospital.
