An exciting opportunity has arisen in Immunology for an enthusiastic, forward thinking manager to lead the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS) Immunology laboratory service. Immunology is part of the Biochemistry, Immunology and Point of Care directorate
The successful applicant will take operational responsibility for the Immunology laboratory, supported by the Consultant Head of Department and Senior Manager overseeing Biochemistry, Immunology and Point of Care
We're looking for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a master's degree (or equivalent) and proven technical experience as well as a management and leadership qualification to lead to develop and our Immunology service. Consideration may be given to other healthcare scientist practitioners who demonstrate, on application, appropriate knowledge, skills and Qualification applicable to the post
NMCPS is a part of a wider Pathology network namely North 8 (N8) which includes Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust (SaTH). The collaboration between the entities has yet to be formalised but it is expected that the postholder will also work closely with the SaTH pathology team

Main duties of the job
The Immunology Lead Biomedical Scientist will provide expert knowledge and understanding of the NMCPS network immunology service.
The post holder will be responsible to the Biochemistry , POCT and Immunology (BPI) Manager for the effective day to day management of the service.
The post holder will act as Immunology Quality Lead and works with NMCPS Quality Team to ensure maintenance of an effective quality management system and maintains accreditation status with appropriate bodies (UKAS).
Ensures analytical and processing equipment is appropriately procured, installed, maintained and operated and records kept.
Create, maintain and review standard operating procedure (SOP) using the electronic quality management system Q-Pulse.
Work with NMCPS leadership team to develop contingency and business continuity plans for both local and partnership wide scenarios.
Working with Immunology Clinical Lead to ensure regular assessment of the service, clinical utility of tests, procedures and techniques. Manage change in accordance with new guidelines, supplier influences, user demand.

- Educated to degree level.
- Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level; Alternatively working knowledge and experience at an equivalent level.
- Professional training delivery qualification or equivalent experience of delivering and facilitating in challenging environments.
- Portfolio of certified/accredited professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, access and Power-point.
Desirable
- Experience and/or qualifications in the specific area Organisational Development.
